PREPARATION : Before using GroutX, please ensure that the paving is firmly fixed and the joints are clean and free of any dust, excess adhesive, bedding mortar or any other contamination. Do not use in wet weather or if frost is forecast within the next 24 hours. Suitable for use in temperatures between 3°C and 25°C but do not apply to areas in direct sunlight or to substrates that are hot. A grout film and/or pigment stains may remain on paving after jointing, particularly with dark colours. Please follow the paving manufacturers recommendations. A trial area is always recommended to check suitability
MIXING : GroutX should be mixed with clean, cold water at a rate of 3 litres per 10kg bag. Add the powder to the water slowly, and mix using a suitable paddle mixer. Mix for 2 minutes, allow to stand for a further 2 minutes and then remix until you have a smooth, creamy consistency. This process allows the additives to dissolve and activate
CURING : Curing times are dependent on temperature and humidity but as a guide, foot traffic should be avoided for a minimum of 3 hours at 20°C and full cure should take approximately 72 hours at 20°C
APPLICATION : Ensure all tools used for grouting are clean. Use a rubber float to work the grout deep into the joints until flush with the paving, removing any excess grout as you go. Any excess grout left on the tile, can be removed with a damp sponge up to 30 minutes after application. Any dry film remaining on the surface can be removed with a dry cloth, once the grout has hardened in the joints. The pot life of the mixed grout is approximately one hour at20°C. Never add water or fresh grout powder to a grout mix which has already started to set. In warm weather, exterior freshly grouted joints should be kept damp using a fine mist spray. Newly grouted joints should be protected from rain or frost during the curing process. Please ensure that any protective cover does not come into contact with the fresh joints as this will restrict the required air circulation.
